Just Call Me Granny:
The Traveling Nanny
I'm Elaine, your traveling granny! I offer short term nanny services and travel to or with you in the same way you might call your mom or grandma.
I am a highly skilled, experienced traveling childcare provider offering overnight and vacation coverage for families who need dependable, high-level support. My background extends well beyond traditional babysitting. As a mother of adult sons, a former public school educator, a published author, and a past director of a family homeless shelter, I bring extensive experience working with children and families across a wide range of needs and environments. My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, with training in nurturing parenting, mediation, de-escalation techniques, and child development, allowing me to respond thoughtfully to both behavior and emotional needs.

Families trust me because I provide more than supervision. I offer structure, presence, and responsive care that supports emotional safety and growth. Children in my care are safe, secure, and nurtured in a calm, engaging environment where learning happens naturally through everyday interactions. For added peace of mind, I also offer optional live-stream access during care, creating transparency and trust.

With years of hands-on experience and continued professional development, I bring a level of awareness, stability, and skill that allows parents to feel confident stepping away. I take a child-led approach that balances development, routine, and respect for each child’s individual needs. Whether supporting families during travel, overnights, or extended stays, I provide reliable, thoughtful care that adapts to the rhythm of the home.

My services extend beyond childcare to include homework support, light household care, and flexible add-ons designed to make daily life easier. I prioritize clear communication, consistency, and building strong, trusting relationships with both parents and children. Each family is different, and I approach every role with professionalism, adaptability, and a deep sense of responsibility.
