Bio
I’m an Indiana native and consider Indianapolis my hometown. I’m also the proud mom of two adult sons. For over ten years, I've been life partner to the love of my life, Greg and we share our home with a sweet fur baby named Jazzy. As a divorced parent and survivor of domestic violence who experienced periods of extreme financial hardship in childhood and in early adulthood, I understand what it feels like when life is heavy and how important it is for children to have steady, supportive adults in their corner.
Professionally, my background includes work in finance in the securities industry, Indiana public schools, and as Executive Director of a family homeless shelter, supporting children and families under intense stress. That experience shaped my approach to tutoring: calm, skillful, no shame, and always focused on helping kids feel safe enough to learn. I’m also the author of Scared Dog Energy: What My Homeless Father Taught Me About Love, Fear, and Survival.
I’m a graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, where I was shaped by a relationship-first, “care comes first” tradition connected to Saint Théodore Guérin and the guiding idea often attributed to her: love the children first, and then teach them. Due to a rare autoimmune disease (Mixed Connective Tissue Disease) and the medication required to treat it, I’m not seeking Kentucky licensure and I’m not eligible for Kentucky reimbursement programs (including insurance or tutoring vouchers).

Statue of Saint Théodore Guérin at Saint Marry-of-theWoods College Indiana
Saint Théodore Guérin was a French sister who founded the Sisters of Providence and the school that became Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC), in 2006 the Catholic Church formally recognized her as a saint and held up her life as an example worth following. That matters to a lot of us because it’s a lasting affirmation that her way of teaching and leading wasn’t just “nice,” it was deeply meaningful work with real spiritual weight behind it.
